No pay raise for Congress is a good start

Congressmen Dan Burton and Joe Donnelly showed their constituents last week that they understand the difficulties of a recession. And they are willing to share in the pain. The two co-sponsored a bill that would eliminate a Congressional pay raise this year. That’s great. We hope they are willing to find more ways to save money.

Thanks for making it a merry Christmas

There still is an economic recession going on in Kokomo and Howard County, but no one would be able to tell it from looking at the charitable efforts of the community. Year after year, people give of themselves to those in need at Christmas time, regardless of their own hardships. That’s what makes this city and county great.

KPD becoming a political liability

The lawsuit filed last week by Kokomo Police Department Lt. Greg Davis and retired police officer Jeff Kirk — veterans of more than 40 years, combined — really shouldn’t have surprised many people by its very existence. Given how that case has progressed over the past year, it was almost expected. What wasn’t expected was the severe nature of the allegations made.
