Toyota Motor Corporation president Akio Toyoda announces Global Quality Task Force

Toyota Motor Corporation President Akio Toyoda spoke at a press conference today in Nagoya.  Mr. Toyoda expressed his deep regret for the inconvenience and concern caused to our customers.  He also announced that he personally will take the lead toward improving quality around the world by establishing a global quality task force that will conduct quality improvement activities region by region.

Elkhart, IN – Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly met with Small Business Administration (SBA) officials and small business owners from across north central Indiana to discuss several ways our small businesses can more easily access credit.  SBA Associate Administrator for the Office of Capital Access Eric Zarnikow from Washington, D.C. and SBA Regional Administrator Marianne Markowitz from Chicago came to hear from north central Indiana small businesses on how the SBA can better assist them through existing or new programs.

State Senate approves monitoring of habitual traffic offenders

INDIANAPOLIS - Senate Bill (SB) 221 co-authored by State Senator John Broden (D-South Bend) was unanimously approved by the State Senate Tuesday. The proposal would allow for repeat drunk driving offenders and those with restricted driving permits to be required to submit to certain monitoring by the court.

State Senate approves bill to help police departments afford body armor

INDIANAPOLIS - The State Senate unanimously approved a measure Tuesday that would allow local law enforcement agencies to use existing funds to purchase body armor, electronics and other needed equipment. State Senator Jim Arnold (D-LaPorte), author of Senate Bill (SB) 281, says the intent is to give local law enforcement agencies more flexibility to determine how best to use available funds.

Toyota announces comprehensive plan to fix accelerator pedals One image

TORRANCE, Calif., February 1, 2010 – Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) U.S.A., Inc., today announced it will begin fixing accelerator pedals in recalled Toyota Division vehicles this week.  Toyota’s engineers have developed and rigorously tested a solution that involves reinforcing the pedal assembly in a manner that eliminates the excess friction that has caused the pedals to stick in rare instances.  In addition, Toyota has developed an effective solution for vehicles in production.
